Dock Supervisor

About the role
The Dock Supervisor will lead and oversee a team of Dock Associates (Freight Handlers) during an assigned shift to ensure freight is safely and efficiently loaded and unloaded to support on-time, error-free deliveries.
Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee Dock Associates, ensuring compliance with company policies, safety standards, and customer requirements.
- Coach, train, and develop team members, addressing performance concerns and documenting interactions as needed.
- Support hiring and onboarding efforts to maintain a productive and engaged team.
- Manage daily dock operations to ensure freight is loaded, unloaded, staged, and handled safely and efficiently.
- Partner with customers and internal teams to resolve issues and support on-time, error-free service.
- Monitor safety, security, and compliance, addressing unsafe practices and conducting routine inspections.
- Assist with loading and unloading freight as operational needs require.
- Resolve team member and customer concerns, escalating significant issues to the Operations Manager as appropriate.
- Complete required operational reporting and support continuous improvement efforts.
- Protect company assets and confidential information in accordance with company policies and procedures.

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in transportation, logistics, freight handling, warehouse, distribution, or cross-dock operations.
- Previous leadership, supervisory, training, or coaching experience.
- Experience working with customers and resolving operational or service issues.
- Experience supporting safety, compliance, continuous improvement, or process improvement initiatives.
- Knowledge of Lean principles and 5S practices is a plus.

Schedule
This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday, from 12:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. The schedule requires flexibility based on business needs, and some weekend work may be required.
Travel
This position may require up to 15% travel.
Work Environment
This job operates in a warehouse or operations environment. The role may routinely involve working near moving equipment, warehouse traffic, varying temperatures, noise, and other conditions commonly found in a logistics or distribution setting. The team member may be required to use job-related tools, equipment, technology, or systems necessary to perform the essential functions of the role.
Physical Demands
The team member may be required to stand, walk, bend, reach, climb, push, pull, lift, carry, communicate verbally and in writing, use job-related tools or equipment, and lift at least 15 pounds at a time.
