Dock QC Inspector, WBPA

About the role

Assure consistent product safety and quality by testing, measuring, and verifying raw materials. Perform procedures that comply with the corporate mission, strategic plan, corporate policies, and customer product specifications.

Responsibilities

• Color, sizing, and grade evaluation of fresh perishable produce
• Calibrations on weight scales, thermometers, and all applicable testing tools or detectors
• G.M.P. monitoring of operations to assure a food-safe environment
• Color code enforcement for sanitation, organics handling, and allergen control
• Hold and release program management
• Rework program oversight
• Shelf-life evaluation and sensory testing as required
• Paperwork, filing, notifications, and data entry for Team site/Quality System
• Other duties as required

Requirements

• Minimum high school education/G.E.D. preferred or applicable certification
• Understanding of produce standards and/or basic produce experience preferred
• Must be able to drive to outside locations for inspections (required for dock staff)

Skills

• Good communication skills, including basic written and spoken English
• Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word)
• Working knowledge of English and basic math
• Ability to collaborate with management

Physical & Environmental Conditions

• Required to stand, sit, walk for long periods of time
• Frequent use of hands for simple, firm grasping and writing
• Frequent bending, stooping, reaching, climbing
• Frequent lifting and carrying (5 pounds to 50 pounds)
• Frequent use of cutting utensils (e.g., knives, peelers)
• Exposure to product fumes (e.g., onions, peppers)
• Exposure to varying temperatures of 45 degrees or less
• Exposure to chemicals such as chlorine
• Works overtime as required
