About the Role

A Dock Technician installs and services dock equipment at customer locations, primarily working outdoors in various weather conditions. The role focuses on repairing and maintaining loading dock equipment such as dock levelers, dock shelters, dock seals, dock bumpers, commercial doors, and more to ensure total customer satisfaction and profitability.

Responsibilities

  • Repair and service dock and door equipment
  • Communicate with dispatcher to determine work schedule and drive to assigned job sites
  • Maintain a valid driver’s license and be insurable by the company
  • Work in a shop environment as needed
  • Communicate with customers to diagnose equipment problems and offer solutions that meet their specifications
  • Order and obtain parts for repairs
  • Complete paperwork, including obtaining customer signatures and processing internally
  • Problem-solve technical issues and customer-relations challenges
  • Obtain estimates for repairs and provide sales leads
  • Represent Equipment Depot professionally to customers, maintaining a positive image of self and vehicles
  • Emphasize and practice safety for self, customers, and the environment
  • Obtain and review equipment repair history
  • Communicate "need-to-know" information within the company (e.g., mechanics, parts, sales, transportation)
  • Uphold the company’s vision, mission, values, and objectives
  • Maintain personal and work area standards for safety, appearance, and equipment condition
  • Practice continuous improvement by seeking new ideas, asking for customer/supplier suggestions, and taking action to improve processes

Requirements

  • Experience maintaining commercial doors or dock equipment
  • Basic electrical experience (advanced electrical experience is a plus)
  • Welding experience is a plus
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
  • Valid driver’s license and insurability by the company
  • Professional appearance and grooming
  • Commitment to safety and environmental protection
  • Strong problem-solving and customer-relations skills
  • Ability to complete paperwork accurately and efficiently
