ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Follows and ensures compliance with operational procedures for verifying incoming and outgoing shipments, handling and disposition of materials, and maintaining accurate warehouse inventory.
  • Captures and processes all incoming freight, inspects for damage, maintains inventory management, cycle counts, inventory accuracy, and places freight in proper location.
  • Coordinates the movement of trailers within the facility grounds.
  • Coordinates yard and dock checks.
  • Prepares materials for shipment: verifies part numbers, counts boxes and skids as necessary, verifies correct paperwork and bar coding, matches trailer number with load.
  • Inspects and reports physical condition of warehouse and equipment. Escalates the need for repairs and requisitions for replacement of equipment.
  • Confers with the supervisor/manager to ensure coordination of warehouse activities.
  • Safeguards the OS&D quarantine area and follows procedures.
  • Makes sure that material handlers have assignments and the appropriate tools to do their job.
  • Identifies and implements continual improvement initiatives to enhance the performance of the position, team, and company.
  • Could handle multiple responsibilities simultaneously or switching rapidly between tasks while maintaining high productivity and accuracy.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Participates in interviews with supervisor/manager present.
  • Trains employees.
  • Plans, assigns, and directs work.
  • Provides feedback to supervisor/manager on performance of employees.
  • Assists the Manager in addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to read and write in English is required. Ability to speak Spanish and English maybe required in some centers.

Physical Demands

  • Regularly required to stand; walk; use hands and fingers, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk.
  • Occasionally required to sit and climb or balance.
  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to hear in order to perform their essential job functions.
  • Specific hearing abilities required by this job include the ability to hear the forklifts, individuals that may be nearby, and the common noises of the environment around them at all times.

Work Environment

  • Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, forklift, and trucks.
  • Frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and outside weather conditions.
  • Occasionally exposed to extreme cold and extreme heat.
  • Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
