Position Summary

Inspect, repair, and maintain loading dock equipment and systems at customers' facilities to ensure safe and efficient operations. Install dock levelers, truck restraints, and other related dock equipment.

Role Qualifications

  • Maintain excellent rapport with customers.
  • Stay current with technical knowledge on products supported.
  • Ensure safety in all activities.
  • Willing to work overtime as needed for customer satisfaction, including off-hours emergency calls.

Position Responsibilities

  • Inspect, maintain, and repair loading docks, dock levelers, dock seals, truck shelters, and overhead doors.
  • Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, air, and electrical issues.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on dock equipment.
  • Respond to emergency repair calls as needed.
  • Attend service training classes to maintain knowledge on new products.
  • Complete all service jobs assigned.
  • Submit daily paperwork for jobs worked on (timecards, maintenance reports with customer's signature).
  • Papers must be completed at the job site before moving to the next job or going home.
  • Maintain accurate service and inspection records.
  • Work collaboratively with warehouse and logistics teams.
  • Communicate with dispatcher and/or service office regarding job status and availability for new jobs.
  • Maintain an organized service van.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with territory sales representatives to keep them informed of sales opportunities.
  • Adhere to safety rules and policies at all times, ensuring compliance with safety standards and company policies.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • One to three years of experience in dock equipment, industrial maintenance, or related field.
  • Technical training or certification in mechanical, electrical, or industrial maintenance preferred.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Successfully complete any training courses required.
  • Strong customer orientation.
  • Good communication skills – written and verbal.
  • Time management: ability to organize and manage multiple priorities.
  • Basic computer proficiency and laptop fundamentals.
  • Own tools necessary to perform repairs.
  • Valid driver's license and good driving record.
  • Certified to operate material handling equipment.
  • Experience with hydraulic systems and motor controls (preferred).
  • Welding and fabrication experience (preferred).
  • Knowledge of OSHA safety standards.
  • A Class A CDL license is preferred but not required, the company can assist with obtaining one.
  • Awareness of lean business principles (preferred).

Non-Essential Skills and Experience

  • Experience with hydraulic systems and motor controls (preferred).
  • Welding and fabrication experience (preferred).
  • Knowledge of OSHA safety standards (preferred).
  • A Class A CDL license (preferred but not required, the company can assist with obtaining one).
  • Awareness of lean business principles (preferred).

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Lift and carry in excess of 75 pounds on a very occasional basis, 25-50 pounds occasionally, and up to 25 pounds frequently.
  • Frequent standing, reclining (lying on back), kneeling, walking, twisting, reaching, and using feet to repair and operate machinery.
  • Occasional sitting, stooping, crouching, squatting, climbing, and crawling.
  • Constant use of hands and fingers to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, computer equipment, and other office equipment.
  • Close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Must have listening, speaking, and writing skills to communicate with customers and service office.
  • Exposure to loud noises, extreme cold or extreme heat, and vibration.
  • Might be exposed to mists, dust, odors or gases, and will be frequently exposed to moving machinery or parts, and power tools.
  • Must wear Personal Protective Equipment whenever appropriate – to include (but not limited to) hard hats, steel-toe safety shoes, and safety glasses.
