About the role
As a History teacher at Huygens College Heerhugowaard, you are much more than an instructor. You are an essential part of our learning community, working with colleagues to build the best education for our students. Our school is small in size but big in connection, and as a subject specialist you will contribute to the development of our teaching—both within your department and across subjects. Cross-curricular collaboration is natural here, for example during our Huygens Days. You will also have the freedom to dedicate part of your week to other tasks, such as personal development.
You will teach lower-secondary classes (years 1–3) in vmbo-tl/havo/vwo streams, at least on Tuesdays. Taking on a mentor role is an option.
Responsibilities
- Teach History in the lower-secondary years (vmbo-tl/havo/vwo, years 1–3)
- Contribute as a subject specialist to the development of our curriculum and teaching methods
- Collaborate across subjects with colleagues, including during school-wide Huygens Days
- Participate in the collegial culture and growth mindset of the school
- Engage with students’ academic and personal development
- Optionally serve as a mentor for a class
Requirements
- Qualified second-degree (tweedegraads) teaching certification
- Ability to enhance the collaborative and supportive work environment

Pay
Salary scale LB/LC (horizontal scaling from current/last position) under the CAO VO.
Schedule
0.6–0.7 FTE (60–70%), with at least Tuesday teaching duties.
