About the Role

Herzog Transit Services, Inc. is currently seeking DMU Engineers in Austin, TX to join our team.

Responsibilities

• Safe and efficient operation of a passenger train.
• Maintain qualifications as required by Federal regulation and company policy.
• Interact with passengers and make on-board announcements.
• Receive and comply with en route instructions from Dispatch Center.
• Report deficiencies and safety concerns to the proper authority.
• Report mechanical malfunctions and coordinate with the mechanical department to correct issues.
• Prepare reports as required.
• Follow all other instructions from Company Officers.
• Regularly engage, participate, and promote Herzog’s Culture and essential behaviors.
• Maintain regular and predictable attendance and punctuality.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Current Federal Railroad Administration Certified Locomotive Engineer.
• Ability to operate passenger train equipment in compliance with Federal and State regulations, GCOR, Air Brake & Train Handling Rules, Timetables and Special Instructions, and Safety Rules.
• Three years of safe, increasingly responsible railroad experience as a certified locomotive engineer; passenger rail experience preferable but not required.
• No railroad operating rule violations or positive drug/alcohol test results in the past five years.
