We are looking for an experienced Divisional/Plant Controller to support financial operations for a manufacturing environment in West Springfield, Massachusetts. This long-term contract position will oversee core accounting activities, strengthen financial visibility, and help leadership make informed business decisions through accurate reporting and analysis.
Responsibilities
- Lead the monthly closing process by coordinating journal entries, account reconciliations, and final financial review to ensure timely and accurate results.
- Monitor daily general ledger activity, investigate discrepancies, and maintain the integrity of accounting records across plant or divisional operations.
- Prepare recurring and ad hoc financial reports that provide management with clear insight into performance, cost trends, and operational results.
- Develop budgets and forecasts by partnering with operational leaders to evaluate spending plans, production expectations, and financial targets.
- Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable activities to support healthy cash flow and accurate transaction processing.
- Apply accounting systems and ERP tools such as Oracle and Epicor to manage reporting, improve controls, and support financial processes.
- Support audit readiness and compliance efforts by maintaining documentation, reviewing accounting practices, and aligning reporting with applicable standards.
- Analyze manufacturing financial data to identify variances, recommend corrective actions, and improve overall cost control.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders on accounting functions and process improvements, including system-related financial activities when needed.
Requirements
- Proven experience serving as a Plant Controller, Divisional Controller, or in a similar senior accounting leadership role within manufacturing.
- Strong knowledge of month-end close procedures, financial reporting, general ledger management, and forecasting.
- Hands-on experience with ERP and accounting platforms such as Oracle, Epicor, ADP, 3M-related environments, or comparable financial systems.
- Solid understanding of core accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, budgeting, and auditing.
- Ability to interpret financial results, investigate variances, and communicate recommendations to business leaders.
- Familiarity with compliance and control frameworks, including exposure to DCAA requirements where applicable.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
