About the role

The Division Supervisor oversees the divisional operations within the Department of Surgery at Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU. Reporting to the Administrator, Associate Administrator, and Divisional Chair, this position ensures that the Division operates efficiently, adheres to policies and procedures, and supports teaching, research, and clinical programs.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates policies and procedures in support of teaching, research, and clinical programs
  • Manages the daily business affairs, funds, and resources of the Division
  • Represents the Division to the School of Medicine, MCV Physicians, and the VCU Health System for essential communication and networking
  • Oversees financial oversight and policy compliance
  • Manages funds effectively from various sources
  • Communicates effectively in brief, focused, and well-organized oral and written presentations
  • Establishes work priorities and provides follow-through to ensure completion of activities
  • Plans, organizes, implements, and coordinates financial and administrative activities
  • Directly manages and supervises administrative and clerical employees assigned to the Division
  • Performs human resources functions including supervision, hiring, evaluation, and termination under the overall direction of the Administrator
  • Provides supervisory functions in multiple personnel systems, including VCU and MCVP

Requirements

  • Minimum of three (3) years of administration work experience in healthcare administration with financial/operations and supervisory responsibility or its equivalent through training, education, and other related experience
  • Experience with Microsoft software, including spreadsheets and databases
  • Previous experience with IDX, CERNER, and VCU and VCUHS information systems
  • Administrative and/or financial management work experience in an academic medical center

Qualifications

  • Associate’s Degree or Equivalent Education
  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, or closely related field

Pay
