About the Role

The Division of Ambulatory Anesthesiology in the Duke Department of Anesthesiology is seeking a full-time faculty member. Ideal candidates will be board-eligible or board-certified in Anesthesiology, have a commitment to clinical excellence, and be prepared to work with field leaders in a high-paced, patient-centered outpatient anesthesia location.

The Division covers a diverse array of procedures including orthopedics, general, plastics, ophthalmology, urologic, GI, and other cases. The Division’s focus is to promote a constant interplay between research activities, educational endeavors, and ambulatory clinical practice with the goal of identifying clinically relevant questions that ultimately benefit patient care in the perioperative environment and enrich the educational experience of the next generation of anesthesiologists.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate clinical excellence in a high-paced outpatient anesthesia setting.
  • Engage in academic and educational activities, including the education of trainees.
  • Participate in national societies and regional/national lecturing commitments.
  • Collaborate in research activities to identify clinically relevant questions in perioperative care.

Requirements

  • Board-eligible or board-certified in Anesthesiology.
  • Experience in ambulatory surgery center (ASC) settings.
  • Strong communication skills and flexibility.
  • Commitment to academic career and education of trainees.
  • Involvement at a national level (e.g., activity with national societies, regional/national lectures).
