About the role

The Dean and faculty at NYU Grossman School of Medicine (NYUGSOM) seek a visionary, dynamic, and creative Division Director of Epidemiology to lead a preeminent, nationally recognized program in close collaboration with the departments of NYUGSOM and other schools and colleges of New York University.

Responsibilities

  • Foster and sustain research collaborations and partnerships across the academic system and with external communities and groups.
  • Lead an existing team of nearly 100 highly productive epidemiology faculty, staff, and trainees.
  • Expand and strategically lead a thriving Division in research, education, and practice.
  • Conduct innovative, rigorous research to discover the causes of and solutions for pressing health problems and health inequities in a changing world.
  • Train the next generation of leading scholars and health professionals in state-of-the-art epidemiologic methods.
  • Translate research to impact population health and policy.

Requirements

  • A doctoral degree in relevant population sciences fields such as public health, implementation science, behavioral science, systems science, sociology, or anthropology, OR a medical degree with advanced training in health disparities and equity research and community-engaged or participatory research methods and approaches.
  • A strong track record of extramural funding, including NIH and/or foundation funding.
  • A national leadership position in the field of epidemiology.

Qualifications

  • A demonstrated track record of leadership in a university, medical center, or research institute setting.
  • A rigorous focus on consequentialist epidemiology, combining epidemiologic and artificial intelligence methods for causal inference.
  • Closer relationships with community and government agency partners.
  • Multidisciplinary integration within the nation's top-funded Department of Population Health and one of the leading health systems in the United States.

Skills

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to inspire and motivate a diverse team.
  • Experience in developing and managing research projects.
  • Knowledge of epidemiological methods and social determinants of health.

Benefits

Salary Range: $295,000 to $480,000, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including faculty appointment, credentials, research funding history, specialty, and health system needs.

Annual salary range: $295,000 to $480,000, commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Schedule

Full-time position.
