About the Role
The Division Director of Facilities reports to the Chief Operations Officer and is responsible for the overall operation and management of the Facilities Division. This includes oversight of Maintenance and Operations, Building and Grounds Maintenance and Support, Work Control Services, Design and Construction, Facilities Services, Custodial, and Energy Management.
Responsibilities
- Oversees all Facilities Division planning and implementation to provide efficient and effective services aligned with the District's goals and objectives.
- Coordinates budget planning for operational funds, District utilities, the Facilities Capital Improvement Plan (CIP), and the District's capital outlay fund.
- Provides leadership in developing and implementing Facility STAT, a data-driven management system to enhance productivity, building cleanliness, customer support, and cost efficiencies.
- Initiates studies to analyze and ensure cost-effective and efficient service delivery.
- Evaluates operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness compared to the private sector through special studies.
- Serves on the District's Emergency Operations Team, District Leadership Team (DLT), Bond Referendum Committee, Bond Oversight Committee, building closure committee, and performs related functions for the Facilities Division.
- Works directly with representatives of the Service Employees Union, Local 513, to promote a positive and equitable working environment.
- Oversees Division staffing, sets vision, mission, and goals aligned with the District’s Strategic Plan, monitors staffing reports, reviews employee performance, resolves performance issues with HR, and maintains organizational and staffing information.
- Develops and updates District policies and procedures under the Facilities Division’s administrative responsibility.
- Initiates customer surveys to evaluate work effectiveness and satisfaction in targeted service areas.
- Attends Board of Education (BOE) meetings and presents when appropriate; participates in community and public meetings.
- Manages and coordinates District response to emergencies affecting Facility operations.
- Demonstrates strong understanding, support, and leadership in facility project management, procurement, and accounting.
- Leads and assists with additional duties as assigned by the Chief Operations Officer.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in an appropriate discipline or a suitable combination of formal education and occupational experience.
- Knowledge of facility management is required.
- Deep understanding of school and municipality operations, including school finance.
- Ability to use integrated technology devices and applications, including Microsoft Office Suite.
- Must comply with WPS Acceptable Use Policies for technology.
- Travel between schools and administrative offices is required; mileage reimbursed at the district policy rate when using a personal vehicle.
Skills
- Effective verbal, digital, and written communication skills for internal and external stakeholders.
- Above-average computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong judgment and decision-making abilities for recurring assignments.
- Ability to work independently while leading the Facilities Division.
