About the role

The Division Controller will coordinate, administer, and control the financial operation of the Kentucky division in Mount Sterling. This role serves as a strategic business partner to the Division Manager, providing timely financial insight to support profitable growth, capital investment, operational improvement, and long-range planning. The Controller ensures compliance with corporate accounting policies, maintains effective internal controls, and supports the standardization of financial processes that safeguard the company’s assets and align with strategic goals.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the division’s accounting function and maintain systems that provide essential financial information.
  • Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable (including credit terms), budget preparation, variance analysis, and ad hoc reports with the support of a full-time Accountant.
  • Ensure the accuracy of the costing system and related controls, including shop floor reporting.
  • Maintain the General Ledger and subsidiary records to ensure accurate financial data and timely preparation of financial reports.
  • Develop and maintain accounting systems that integrate cost accounting, general accounting, fixed assets, and budgetary activities to support strategic goals.
  • Establish and maintain a planning and budgeting system for sound financial projections.
  • Improve internal controls and financial practices to support reliable reporting, safeguard assets, and reduce risk.
  • Comply with corporate policies, state and federal regulations, including the US Foreign Corrupt Practices Act.
  • Lead finance initiatives, including accurate cost standards, profitability analysis, inventory management, and capital appropriations.
  • Develop and submit accurate and timely financial reporting for corporate reviews, audits, or regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in quarterly operational review and management meetings.
  • Educate divisional personnel on financial planning, forecasting, and resource control.
  • Assist the Division’s HR Manager with payroll-related matters.
  • Support the preparation of long-range strategic and annual business plans.
  • Provide financial support for major Company-wide projects.
  • Prepare and file Divisional sales tax, property tax, and other compliance reporting.
  • Regular and punctual attendance; occasional travel and use of personal vehicle may be required.

Requirements

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and/or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 7–10 years of experience, with at least 7 years in a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of general accounting systems, budgetary methods, and internal/external reporting.
  • Complete understanding of GAAP, costing, business concepts, and finance-related operations.
  • Advanced knowledge of ERP systems (PLEX experience highly desirable).
  • Expert-level proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint, OneDrive, OneNote).
