Division Chief, Engineering
About the role
The Air Force Civilian Service (AFCS) is seeking a Division Chief, Engineering, GG-0854-15, to lead a division of technology experts as the Chief Engineer for USSTRATCOM's J6 Future Operations and Plans. This position is a Cyber Excepted Service (CES) position.
Responsibilities
- Lead the entire system lifecycle, from requirements and secure design to the integration of complex solutions.
- Architect the future of warfighting using AI/ML and cloud technologies to deliver cutting-edge capabilities.
- Drive innovation and ensure operational safety, suitability, and effectiveness in systems or end-items.
- Evaluate state-of-the-art advancements in theory, application, technology, and policy affecting systems being developed.
- Plan, organize, and direct functions and staff in critical aspects of development, production, and/or support of systems, subsystems, or equipment.
- Evaluate and manage safety, security, personnel management, and EEO regulations, practices, and procedures.

Qualifications
- A professional engineering degree at the bachelor’s level from an ABET accredited institution is highly desired.
- An advanced engineering degree, such as a Masters or PhD, is preferred.
- Knowledge of a wide range of advanced multidisciplinary professional engineering and architectural concepts, principles, practices, standards, methods, techniques, materials, equipment, and of system engineering and efforts required to achieve and preserve operational safety, suitability, and effectiveness in systems or end-items.
- Knowledge of the policies, guidance, procedures, roles, functions, organizational structure, and operation of the DoD, JS, Services, USSTRATCOM, and organizations that govern, interface with, and/or influence systems acquisition, development, and/or sustainment; and knowledge of planning, programming, and budgeting cycles, financial systems, and restrictions on expenditure of funds.
- Knowledge of and skill in evaluating state-of-the-art and advancements in theory, application, technology, and policy affecting systems being developed, and in planning, organizing, and directing the functions and staff in critical aspects of development, production, and/or support of systems, subsystems, or equipment.
