About the role

The Division Chief of Cardiac Anesthesiology leads and grows a high-volume academic cardiovascular program at CHI Health Creighton University Medical Center – Bergan Mercy. You will provide strategic leadership for a dedicated team of 6–8 cardiac anesthesiologists, collaborate with cardiac surgery, cardiology, and hospital leadership, and help shape the future of cardiac anesthesiology through clinical excellence, faculty development, recruitment, quality improvement, and program growth.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain an active clinical practice providing anesthetic care for a full spectrum of advanced adult cardiac procedures, including CABG and valve surgeries, structural heart interventions, complex aortic surgery, and ECMO cases.
  • Perform and interpret advanced intraoperative TEE, collaborate within a multidisciplinary heart team to optimize perioperative outcomes, develop clinical protocols and care pathways, oversee quality and regulatory initiatives, mentor faculty, and represent the division through strategic leadership and national professional engagement.
  • Lead and grow a high-volume academic cardiovascular program at CHI Health Creighton University Medical Center – Bergan Mercy, a 391-bed Level I Trauma Center and flagship academic medical center in Omaha, Nebraska.

Requirements

  • MD or DO degree
  • Completion of an ACGME-accredited Anesthesiology Residency
  • Fellowship training in Cardiac Anesthesiology
  • Board certified or board eligible in Anesthesiology
  • Advanced Perioperative TEE certification (or eligible)
  • Eligible for medical licensure in Nebraska
