Division Chair of Nursing

Position Summary

The University of Saint Mary seeks a creative, dynamic, and innovative leader to serve as Chair of the Division of Nursing. Reporting to the Associate Vice President for Academics, this is a 12-month administrative appointment with a full workload release for chair responsibilities.

Essential Functions

  • Provide academic and administrative leadership for the Division of Nursing.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate short- and long-term goals aligned with the University's mission, strategic priorities, and accreditation standards.
  • Advise the Associate Vice President for Academics and Provost on division-related matters.
  • Lead faculty and staff recruitment, supervision, evaluation, and professional development while fostering an inclusive environment.
  • Teach assigned course(s) each semester; overload assignments are not permitted.
  • Oversee division policies, curriculum, course scheduling, faculty workload, enrollments, and program quality.
  • Manage the division budget and allocate resources effectively.
  • Resolve student, faculty, staff, and program concerns in a timely and professional manner.
  • Collaborate with Admissions and Marketing to support recruitment, enrollment, retention, and program growth.
  • Partner with Advancement to strengthen alumni and donor relationships and pursue grant opportunities.
  • Lead accreditation, assessment, program review, and reporting activities while ensuring compliance with institutional, state, and federal requirements.
  • Represent the Division through community engagement and professional partnerships.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Doctorate required; Master's degree in Nursing required; current Kansas RN license.
  • Demonstrated record of teaching, advising, scholarship, assessment, and service in nursing or related disciplines.
  • Academic leadership experience in higher education preferred.
  • Experience with curriculum development, accreditation, assessment, budgeting, faculty supervision, and program administration.
  • Commitment to the mission and core values of the University of Saint Mary.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, project management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to analyze data, manage budgets, prioritize competing responsibilities, and make sound decisions.
  • Ability to build collaborative relationships with students, faculty, staff, administrators, alumni, and community partners.
