Principal Duties

  • Distinguishing the program by providing a vision that directs and motivates faculty to be innovative
  • Managing the operations of the program in a complex, fast-paced higher education environment
  • Ensuring the quality of the faculty, curriculum, assessment of student learning, and scholarly activity of faculty and students
  • Active involvement in student recruitment efforts to facilitate program growth and responsibility for meeting annual enrollment targets
  • Development of strategic partnerships in community to support student recruitment and program growth
  • Maintenance of collegial and supportive relationships with relevant accrediting and professional bodies and completion of required reporting or documentation
  • Faculty committee and production assignments
  • Facilitation of Program Faculty Governance and All Faculty meetings
  • Supervision and development of Program, Affiliate, and Adjunct Faculty to meet quality standards and goals as well as institutional priorities
  • Oversight and coordination of the academic program to meet quality, relevance, and currency standards and goals
  • Oversight and coordination of Student Affairs within the program
  • Development of viable new curricular offerings in the field
  • Participation in research, writing and ultimate responsibility for any necessary self-study or program-related reports
  • Management of the student learning assessment plan and the program review process for the department to identify needed improvements to student learning
  • Outreach and recruitment of faculty and support of student recruitment
  • Coordination or management of student training. Supervision of the teaching, advisement, dissertation activities, and other duties performed by Faculty members to meet department academic goals

Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • The Division Chair must be an optimistic, action oriented leader who can motivate faculty to embrace these values in the classroom and within the institution
  • The Division Chair must be able to balance institutional priorities with program needs and initiatives
  • The Division Chair should have at least 3-4 years of previous administrative experience as an academic department chair or program director, and a record of scholarship or professional experience commensurate with the rank of Associate or Full Professor
  • The ideal candidate will be an experienced practitioner-scholar with strong visionary and leadership skills who will thrive in a diverse, rich, and innovative environment

Position Qualifications

  • Successful candidates must hold an earned doctorate in Clinical or Counseling Psychology, preferably from an APA accredited program
  • License to practice Psychology, preferably in CAStrong record of administrative experience in higher education
  • Teaching and academic administration at graduate level as well as professional experience
  • The Division Chair must be an optimistic, action oriented leader who can motivate faculty to embrace these values in the classroom and within the institution
  • Experience with online as well as on ground teaching formats
  • Must have a strong interest in the development of leaders, as this job requires the development of future leaders in the field through curriculum
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage operational processes including the program budget
  • Solid people development skills with a focus on providing opportunities for faculty and staff to excel
  • This is an environment that expects high productivity and quick response time, as well as the ability to minimize operational tasks and maximize creativity and innovation

Compensation & Benefits

This opportunity is budgeted at $110,000 - $135,000 base compensation. Additional compensation factors may impact total compensation.
