Job Description

The Diversified Technician provides basic nursing care to patients according to predefined guidelines, a plan of care established by a Registered Nurse, and under the direct supervision of the Registered Nurse, the CDC Guidelines for Infection Control, and the Singing River Health System Department of Nursing Plan for Provision of Care, Treatment and Services. They function as a member of the nursing unit team by performing routine clerical and receptionist duties as designated by the Nurse Manager, Patient Care Coordinator, or Registered Nurse.

Responsibilities

  • Provides basic nursing care to patients according to predefined guidelines.
  • Performs routine clerical and receptionist duties as designated by the Nurse Manager, Patient Care Coordinator, or Registered Nurse.
  • Works in a moderate active capacity, involving sitting with frequent requirements to move about the office, move about the facility, and travel to other facilities within the SRHS service area.
  • Exerts a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
  • Uses many physical motions in performing daily work activities, including repetitive motions of the wrists, hands, and fingers while operating standard office equipment such as a computer keyboard.
  • Works for extended periods without experiencing undue fatigue.
  • Maintains collaborative and respectful working relationships throughout SRHS and other organizations.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Graduate from a Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) program preferred.
  • Hospital / healthcare experience and/or on-the-job training may be accepted in lieu of formal education.
  • Must be certified in Mississippi as a Nursing Assistant.
  • Must complete and maintain BCLS certification upon hire and/or transfer.
  • Must have de-escalation training completed by the end of position orientation (90 days).
  • Nursing Assistant experience preferred.
  • Experience working in an Emergency Department preferred.

Qualifications

  • Must have equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities have been achieved.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Emotional stability conducive to dealing with high stress levels.

  • Customer service skills and professional etiquette.
  • Proficient knowledge and ability to use a computer (must be keyboard proficient) and other office technology (i.e., telephone, fax, etc.), MS Outlook and Word.
  • Appropriate clinical judgment and professional skills to a patient population of all ages.
