About the role

This position supports students in a district-wide special education setting at Dr. Norman Crisp Elementary School for the 2026–2027 school year. Under the direction of the classroom teacher, the paraeducator assists with implementation of IEP goals and objectives pertaining to educational needs, social-emotional and behavioral development, and fine and gross motor skills to foster independence. The role also involves assisting with physical and minimal health needs of children, which may include lifting, feeding, toileting/diapering, and personal hygiene.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Title 1 Schools require Highly Qualified Status, which includes one of the following:
    • Associate's Degree
    • Equivalent two years of college
    • Bachelor's degree
    • Paraeducator II certification from the NH Department of Education

Responsibilities

The specific duties vary by paraeducator category. General responsibilities for instructional paraeducators include assisting in the implementation and reinforcement of the instructional curriculum, helping prepare and administer testing, and providing input to teachers, guidance counselors, and school administration regarding student performance.

Additional category descriptions include:

  • Instructional Paraeducator: Serves Title 1, Kindergarten, ELL, and Special Education instructional roles.
  • Pre-School Paraeducator: Assists with students in the classroom by planning and implementing developmentally appropriate curriculum for assigned age groups.
  • Technical Paraeducator: Assists with students in day-to-day operations of the assigned program by helping with assignments using provided materials and technology (includes Job Coach, Alternative Room, Science, Computer, Graphic Arts, and Health Occupation paraeducators).

Pay

$19.94 – $27.27 per hour for Pre-School, District Wide/Intensive Needs positions. Placement is based on relative prior experience.
