District Traffic Engineer - St. Louis District
Job Location
The district traffic engineer works in the Traffic Management Center located at 14301 South Outer Forty, Chesterfield, MO 63017.
Responsibilities
- Provides oversight for a district's traffic field operations and engineering activities.
- Reviews and approves complex or controversial traffic studies.
- Directs a district highway safety program to identify safety needs and recommend improvements.
- Leads the regional safety blueprint group and other traffic safety initiatives.
- Evaluates traffic control device needs and functionality, and approves/recommends improvements in traffic flow through signal coordination, signal timing, and corridor management.
- Safeguards the permitting process to address access impacts to the transportation system.
- Contributes to the traffic section's input on core teams for major projects.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited college or university curriculum.
- Licensed as a Professional Engineer in the State of Missouri.
- Nine years of experience in highway or transportation engineering.
Qualifications
- Occasional, statewide and out-of-state, overnight travel required.
- Exposure to moderately adverse and undesirable environmental conditions.

- Advanced accreditation or licensure required (only available to holders of specific postsecondary degrees).
