District Sales Manager - Oncology - Topaz - Gulf Coast
About the role
Join Amgen’s mission of serving patients. As a District Sales Manager covering TN, AL, MS, AR, the Florida Panhandle, LA, TX, and OK, you will be the liaison to medical professionals, providing clinical knowledge of Amgen’s oncology and hematology products. This role requires strong collaboration with cross-functional teams, including District Sales Managers, Regional Sales Directors, and Corporate Account Managers, to maximize performance and achieve sales targets.
Ideally, the selected candidate should live in Texas or Arkansas.
Responsibilities
- Track the progress of marketing messages and programs.
- Provide feedback to district teams on marketing, resource allocation, and leveraging internal/external resources (e.g., discretionary spend).
- Manage district teams to maximize performance and exceed sales/budget targets.
- Screen, interview, and hire candidates for sales roles.
- Ensure compliance with training programs.
- Coach and counsel team members to prepare them for future development.
- Conduct annual and ongoing performance reviews and competency assessments.
- Communicate and coordinate with district and cross-functional teams (e.g., Marketing, Finance, other Business Units).
- Share best practices with direct reports and peers.
- Coordinate and/or participate in cluster teams.
- Conduct district sales meetings to guide and align teams.
- Develop local Opinion Leader relationships to achieve aligned objectives.
Requirements
- One of the following combinations of education and experience:
- Doctorate degree and 2 years of Sales/Marketing experience, OR
- Master’s degree and 6 years of Sales/Marketing experience, OR
- Bachelor’s degree and 8 years of Sales/Marketing experience, OR
- Associate’s degree and 10 years of Sales/Marketing experience, OR
- High school diploma/GED and 12 years of Sales/Marketing experience.
- 2 years of managerial experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs, or directing resource allocation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Three or more years of specialty sales experience.
- Experience in Hematology and/or Oncology.
- Buy-and-bill model experience.
- Ability to consistently and objectively recognize and promote success behaviors, as well as diagnose and change unsatisfactory behaviors through effective coaching.
- Leverage market and customer knowledge to strategically target messages, resources, and activities within the territory.
- Demonstrated knowledge of local payor coverage.
- Ability to understand and articulate clinical concepts, data, and conclusions.
- Demonstrated ability to utilize clinical information to effectively address customer questions and objections.
- Strong recruitment skills to identify candidates meeting minimum job criteria.
- Interview and hire sales representatives capable of fulfilling job requirements.
- Strong sense of responsibility and self-discipline.
- Ability to set appropriate short- and long-term objectives.
- Demonstrated success in communicating and collaborating with sales staff, peers, and business unit counterparts effectively and timely.

Pay
The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
