About the role

Responsible for developing independent account business with an emphasis on overall profitability through both new sales and account penetration. Promote and sell company-branded products to meet brand sales objectives. May also support customer service activities for regional and/or national chain customers to increase company visibility and maximize market share. Functions as a team member within the department and organization, performing any duty assigned to best serve the company.

Responsibilities

  • Generate additional business by analyzing sales territory and individual customers; sampling products with existing and potential customers; planning general sales strategy including time and territory management; planning sales approach with individual customers; and conducting effective sales presentations.
  • Grow sales and profit margins on an ongoing basis to meet established sales and margin goals.
  • Set up new customer accounts by determining pricing; work with Credit Department for initial authorization; and coordinate with other center personnel for scheduling order-taking, deliveries, etc.
  • Perform initial follow-up work with customers to ensure delivery and product satisfaction.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction by providing an exemplary level of service and working closely with other center personnel to coordinate efforts, prevent, and resolve customer problems.
  • May be personally responsible for making deliveries in emergency situations.
  • Build additional business with current customers through product penetration to maximize profitability of individual accounts.
  • Minimize accounts receivable problems by monitoring accounts for compliance with credit terms and following up on any issues.
  • Maintain awareness of pricing trends within the sales territory, particularly on market-driven/commodity products, to ensure competitive pricing.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent.
  • 6–12 months of sales/marketing and/or restaurant experience.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
