District Representative - Office of Senator Gonzalez (Huntington Park, CA)
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Graduation from an accredited four year college or university.
Experience: One (1) year experience administering and implementing education programs and/or initiatives, with documented experience with the Title I, Part A program and the federal No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act.
- Knowledge of: Title I, Part A and Title I School Improvement program; NCLB services to private nonprofit schools requirements; TEA’s electronic grant application system—eGrants; and federal laws and regulations relevant to NCLB program areas.
- Skill in: Navigating TEA’s eGrants system; being flexible and adaptable to change; self-teaching and being motivated to acquire necessary knowledge and expertise to complete assignments within prescribed timelines; problem-solving, decision-making, planning, organization, and time-management; computer skills without the assistance of secretarial staff; and exhibiting a positive attitude and professional behavior to support colleagues in achieving division and Agency goals.
- Ability to: present complex information to a variety of audiences; read and correctly interpret federal statute, rules, regulations, and guidance documents; meet timelines and project deadlines, as assigned; establish and maintain effective working relationships with managers and peers and be skilled in working as a member of a team; and demonstrate competency of successful oral and written communication skills that involve problem-solving and decision-making.
Supplemental Information
Salary Is Dependent On Qualifications. Positions exempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will earn compensatory time off rather than overtime for hours in excess of 40 per week. May be required to work hours other than 8 to 5. May be required to work weekends and holidays.

Vacation leave: Effective your first day of work, you begin accruing vacation leave. Your rate of accrual increases based on length of employment. You may use accrued vacation leave once you have completed six months of continuous state service.
Sick leave: Employees earn eight (8) hours of sick leave each month.
