Key Responsibilities

  • Place purchase orders for the District, and plan Branch transfers where appropriate.
  • Review and make changes to prior-day POs based on Branch feedback.
  • Work with supplier reps to confirm all District purchase orders, while communicating details to Branch Managers and District Freight Coordinator.
  • Maintain discipline in daily schedule: establishing timelines for PO placement, change windows, and confirmation deadlines with supplier reps.
  • Execute bulk buys for the District, leveraging consolidated purchasing power for higher District margins.

Data Inputs & Maintenance

  • Manage and update Min Pack & Min Order quantities for all items in the District, in correspondence with suppliers.
  • Maintain and update primary supplier / plant mappings for all items in the District.
  • Identify and execute crosswalk situations as directed by Branch or Supplier.

Training & Continual Improvement

  • Maintain knowledge of ABC Supply’s Agility system (and possibly other ERP/PO tracking tools).
  • Participate in and sometimes lead clean-up efforts (SO / PO clean-up), data quality initiatives.
  • Train Branch staff (or support) on PO / SPO (Suggested PO) functionality, stock designations, supplier / plant mapping.

Success Measures / Goals

  • Improve vendor consistency and leverage District volume to secure cost savings.
  • Improve fill rates, reduce shortages.
  • Decrease number and size of changes to prior-day POs over time.
  • Maintain accuracy of min pack / min order quantities, supplier assignments, and supplier facility assignments.
  • Reduce obsolete or phased-out SKUs quickly (maintain item / SKU consistency).

Qualifications & Skills Required

  • 2-5 years of experience in purchasing / procurement, supply chain, inventory management, or related field.
  • Strong understanding of PO processes, order points, stock vs non-stock distinctions.
  • Experience working with ERP / inventory / purchasing systems (or willingness/ability to learn).
  • Excellent attention to detail, data accuracy, organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills: working with Branch managers, suppliers, internal stakeholders.
  • Ability to analyze data, identify trends (shortage, surplus, SKU changes) and act on them.

Preferred

  • Prior experience in a wholesale distribution environment, especially in building products or roofing / siding / windows / exterior/interior supplies.
  • Strong Excel skills or similar tools (data analysis, reporting).
  • Experience with supplier mapping, SKU transitions / phasing out old products.

Pay Rate Information

$35/hr. Based on experience and qualifications.
