About the role
Join the clean energy revolution as a District Planning Manager at Southern California Edison (SCE) and help build a better tomorrow. In this role, you’ll manage the District Planning team in Dominguez Hills, providing direction, support, and leadership to ensure the team meets design, construction, and safety standards while driving innovation in energy distribution.
Responsibilities
- Review and approve work orders for accuracy and develop or revise business plans to ensure compliance with design, construction, and safety standards.
- Supervise incoming projects to balance workload among design staff and meet execution targets.
- Lead and coordinate design activities and contract resources to align with department goals, collaborating with peer hub managers to maintain workload levels.
- Manage employee performance and development through performance planning, mentoring, and disciplinary actions when necessary.
- Review employee and hub performance using tools like Project Tracker and Power BI to assess budgets, objectives, quality, cost efficiency, and client responsiveness; provide regular reports to Senior Leadership.
- Support and monitor the implementation of new work processes, technology, and automation (e.g., proactive scheduling of design tasks) while meeting project demands.
- Oversee the selection, training, development, performance management, compensation, and discipline of subordinate personnel.
- Establish and enforce expectations related to safety, procedure compliance, corrective actions, and appropriate work behaviors.
- Ensure the protection of SCE’s physical, financial, and cybersecurity assets, and manage sensitive data (e.g., private customer data, proprietary information) with the highest standards of conduct and integrity.
Requirements
- Five or more years of combined experience performing or supervising electrical utility distribution, transmission, or telecom design or line construction.
- Valid Class C Driver's License.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher in business, engineering, or a related field.
- Knowledge of construction standards, distribution design standards, or G.O. 95/128 standards.
- Experience preparing and reviewing work orders or construction plans using engineering and design practices.
- Experience developing strategic plans to support customer satisfaction, workflow processes, resource allocation, and department operations.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and programs such as DM, GeoView, and Click Schedule.
Schedule
- Hybrid work mode: report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on remaining days. Work mode may change based on business needs.
- Option for a 9/80 Alternate Work Schedule or 40 hours/5 days a week.
Location
The primary work location is the Compton Service Center, with potential extended assignments at alternate work locations.
