District Merchandising Supervisor
About the Role
This position manages all operational and team member aspects of a traveling 7-person district Field Activity Support Team (FAST). Duties include executing planograms and physical inventories, supporting merchandise and fixture assembly, and maintaining all signage. The role involves building the team, leading execution of company merchandising and inventory standards, and providing legendary customer service.
Responsibilities
- Maintain regular and predictable attendance, with the ability to work varied hours, days, and nights as dictated by business needs.
- Uphold and promote a safe and productive work environment by following and enforcing policies and procedures.
- Build the district Field Activity Support Team (FAST), including hiring, staffing, retention, training, development, performance reviews, counseling, and succession planning.
- Create and manage the schedule and payroll, including travel to specified stores, task delegation, and team coordination.
- Lead execution of Tractor Supply Company standards for merchandising, inventory, fixture assembly, and signage maintenance.
- Communicate proactively with the Regional FAST Manager on project status, obstacles, and solutions, and partner on process improvements.
- Support the District Manager in achieving merchandising goals and maintain regular communication with Store Managers regarding team activities and challenges.
- Provide legendary customer service using the GURA method: Greet the Customer, Uncover needs, Recommend products, Ask for the Sale.
- Perform FAST Team Member duties as needed, including:
- Completing planograms and resets accurately and timely.
- Maintaining visual merchandise standards.
- Performing store-specific measurements and layout initiatives.
- Conducting accurate inventory and cycle counts.
- Completing Tractor Way top cap process and hanging store signage.
- Assembling merchandise, fixtures, and PDQs.
- Performing detailed recovery and reviewing planogram integrity.
- Providing peak coverage as needed (e.g., DAT).
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- 5 years of retail and/or merchandising experience.
- 2 years of retail leadership and/or merchandising leadership experience.
- Experience with profit/loss, scheduling, shrink control, payroll management, staffing, hiring, supervising, and counseling.
- Farming, ranching, pet/equine, or welding knowledge is strongly preferred.
- High School diploma or equivalent is required; Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related field preferred.
- Must be able to read, write, and count accurately.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.

- Ability to be forklift certified.
Working Conditions
- Favorable working environment, generally indoors with moderate noise.
- Work shifts vary (minimum 4 hours, may exceed 10 hours).
- Travel between store locations in a personal vehicle is required, often with long periods of driving.
- Promote a safe and productive work environment; adhere to company safety training and guidelines.
- Indoor floors and outdoor lots are hard surfaces (concrete, asphalt); lighting and temperature are adequate.
Physical Requirements
- Non-sedentary role requiring physical and mental stamina to move quickly and safely throughout stores and outdoor areas.
- Ability to drive a vehicle.
- Ability to move and transfer merchandise up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to push and pull merchandise up to 2,000 pounds with material handling equipment (e.g., pallet jack).
- Ability to occasionally lift or reach merchandise overhead.
- Ability to frequently stand, kneel, twist, crouch, squat, bend, stoop, and climb ladders.
- Ability to move throughout the store for an entire shift.
- Ability to safely access all store areas, including selling floor, side lot, stock area, and register area.
- Ability to operate store equipment (e.g., dolly, handtruck, forklift, baler, computer, cash register).
- Ability to constantly operate store equipment such as computers and cash registers.
- Ability to read, write, and count accurately for documentation.
- Ability to handle and be in contact with birds/poultry.
- Ability to successfully complete all required training.
