About the Role

The District Manager In Training (DMIT) position prepares eligible candidates for the role of District Manager. As a District Manager, you will guide a team of Store Managers to deliver an exceptional guest shopping experience, operational excellence, and a working environment that promotes engagement and company values. You will oversee area store personnel to achieve Region, Division, and Company net profit performance objectives.

Training Program

The DMIT program consists of two phases:

  • Phase I: Foundational training including New Hire and Orientation Training, followed by the MIT Training program to gain insight into the Store Manager or Restaurant Manager role. DMITs will then spend 2-3 months managing a single location (internal promotions from Store Manager/Restaurant General Manager level may skip this phase).
  • Phase II: 6-8 weeks riding with a Designated DM Trainer, observing and practicing the day-to-day duties of a District Manager. Upon completion, DMITs become "District Managers In Waiting" and return to their home store as a leader until an area assignment opens.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a strategic plan for your area, including staffing levels, team development, and performance management.
  • Oversee team engagement and productivity across multiple locations to support retention and growth.
  • Demonstrate leadership by setting clear goals, holding teams accountable, and communicating effectively.
  • Build and develop a strong leadership team by hiring/promoting candidates and ensuring training, coaching, and feedback.
  • Analyze financial reports (P&L, gap analysis, sales, expenses, labor costs, inventory) to coach Store Managers toward improving profitability.
  • Conduct weekly store visits to ensure compliance with company standards for store conditions, promotions, operational procedures, and financial controls.
  • Ensure area-wide guest satisfaction, product quality, safety, and security.
  • Focus on food service, increasing sales, and monitoring food service standards and safety.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Region Manager.
  • Must be able to perform essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.

Working Relationships: Store team members, Region Manager, VP of Retail Operations, Human Resources, Facilities Maintenance, Marketing, Risk Management, Environmental, Legal departments, and vendors.
