About the Role

This position oversees store operations, financial performance, and team leadership to ensure profitability, compliance, and a safe working environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provides information to store management by recapping promotional activity; reporting business opportunities, results, trends, and competitive information.
  • Manages controllable costs by educating managers on procedures for controlling merchandise variation, salaries, overtime, cash, repair, and maintenance costs.
  • Collaborates with the Marketing team to ensure promotions and new product introductions are fully implemented.
  • Provides feedback to category managers regarding stock issues and partners with vendors to ensure product availability.
  • Ensures timely execution of monthly promotions and professional vendor performance.
  • Manages store profitability by overseeing cash, merchandise variation, salaries, and other controllable expenses on the P&L.
  • Ensures compliance with policies, procedures, and government regulations, including restricted sales policies.
  • Maintains a safe and secure working environment for employees and customers through safety practices, communication, and training.
  • Achieves financial objectives by forecasting requirements, preparing annual budgets, scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances, and initiating corrective actions.
  • Provides leadership and direction to store managers, including recruiting, selection, orientation, employee development, and training programs.
  • Plans, monitors, and appraises job results; establishes job expectations and provides coaching for issue resolution.
  • Administers counseling notices and initiates corrective actions as needed.
  • Implements non-discriminatory management practices in hiring, training, counseling, motivating, and employee separation.
  • Adheres to the Company Operating Policy of Legal, Ethical, and Moral practices.
  • Enhances professional and technical knowledge through educational workshops, professional publications, networking, or participation in professional societies.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing Financial and Key Result Area targets pursuant to Company plan guidelines.
  • Allocates program costs by preparing operational and risk reports for analysis.
  • Maintains staff through recruiting, selecting, orienting, training, coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field preferred; other combinations of job-related experience and education may be substituted.
  • 3-5 years of retail business experience, including a minimum of 2 years of management responsibility.
  • Experience with MS Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word preferred.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability, good communication skills, self-direction, self-motivation, and customer service orientation.
  • Ability to communicate (orally and in writing) in English.
  • Ability to supervise and train Store Managers in the use of store equipment, tools, and materials.
  • Ability to supervise and manage functions outlined in the Store Manager job description.
  • A current valid driver’s license is required to operate a company vehicle.

Physical Requirements

  • Sit for long periods of time.
  • Operate a computer keyboard and mouse for data entry.
  • View a computer monitor.
  • Hear and speak via telephone.
  • Reach forward and/or overhead.
  • Occasionally lift up to 20 pounds.

Work Environment

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • Lighting includes natural light and fluorescent lighting throughout work areas.
  • Work with minimum direction and periodic supervision.
