As the senior leader in the district, the District Manager is responsible for growing Retail and Commercial market share by overseeing all facets of store operations. This role requires a commitment to leading and inspiring the team, helping DIY and Commercial customers succeed, and driving sales and profitability with integrity.

Responsibilities

  • Achieve or exceed district total sales and profitability goals
  • Ensure commercial customer retention and relationship growth in the market
  • Selection, hiring, development, goal setting, performance management, coaching, engagement, and retention of General Managers and Core 4 team members
  • Ensure proper staffing levels throughout the district
  • Ensure execution of all inventory and operational standards within the district
  • Conduct regular store visits, providing action plans to achieve full market potential
  • Teach business acumen by reviewing profit and loss statements with General Managers
  • Communicate effectively and appropriately to stores and support staff
  • Embrace diversity and foster a respectful environment for both customers and team members
  • Assist region/area in other functions upon request

Requirements

  • Knowledge of store operations and processes
  • ASE P2 certified or ASE ready equivalent
  • Ability to recruit, select, hire, and develop quality General Managers and ensure the same for Core 4 positions
  • Accountability, coaching, and feedback skills
  • Ability to execute and train all store operational processes, procedures, and team member/customer standards
  • Ability to use and train testing and diagnostic equipment for DIY services
  • Effectively use Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint computer programs
  • Working knowledge of automotive systems preferred
  • Speak and write English (Spanish a plus); communicate effectively and build strong relationships with customers, peers, and upper management
  • Use basic math accurately: add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Perform calculations such as Gross Margin and understand financial documents like Profit and Loss Statements (P&L) and invoices
  • Ability to fully understand all facets of the business and excel in an integrated operating model (including DIY, Commercial, PDQ, and Hub operations)
  • Define problems, collect information, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and effectively resolve issues independently
  • Think strategically, analyze issues and options, and effectively manage and facilitate change
  • Effectively delegate and supervise projects to ensure timely and quality execution
  • Ability to work an assortment of days, evenings, and weekends as needed

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of experience managing a team of 10-20 General Managers who supervise 10-30 Team Members in a fast-paced and highly dynamic retail environment
  • Proven track record in meeting sales and gross margin targets in a multi-unit environment
  • Successful experience managing profitability; proven financial and business acumen
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Bachelor’s degree in business or a related area preferred
  • Valid driver's license
  • ASE certification preferred, but not required

Physical Demands

  • Predominantly walking or standing
  • Ability to talk and hear, and use hands and fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
  • Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus

Work Environment

  • Primarily working inside, but occasionally exposed to outdoor weather conditions while performing tasks such as installing batteries and wiper blades
  • Occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; toxic or caustic chemicals; risk of electrical shock; explosives; and vibration
  • Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate

Pay

The good faith estimate for this role is between $83,000.00 USD and $103,700.00 USD salary for a new team member. The rate offered depends on geographic location, experience in retail, automotive knowledge, education, leadership roles, and other relevant skillsets. Position is eligible for bonus based on individual and group performance.
