About the Role
As an Area Leader, you will drive operational excellence and talent development across multiple sweetgreen locations.
Responsibilities
- Develop an internal succession plan and a deep bench of managers at all levels by identifying and nurturing raw talent and head coaches.
- Move capability and performance with urgency, ensuring a clear understanding of the sweetgreen profile to recruit high-potential internal and external talent.
- Drive continuous performance improvement by focusing on leading indicators and key metrics, balancing people, financial, and customer experience goals.
- Meet or exceed annual P&L objectives, with a focus on top-line sales, productivity, and production management.
- Boost top-line sales through community marketing, throughput and technology initiatives, new product launches, and a strong merchandising mentality.
- Train, coach, and inspire teams to deliver exceptional customer experiences and high-quality culinary operations while adhering to sweetgreen’s policies and procedures.
- Lead head coach development personally and professionally through goal setting, feedback, and understanding what motivates people to improve performance.
- Build strong cross-functional partnerships to support stores, remove barriers, and prioritize customer, people, and results.
- Foster a positive, team-oriented environment with a healthy competitive spirit, encouraging best practice sharing and goal achievement.
- Grow community connections in each restaurant neighborhood by developing brand ambassadors and maximizing sweetgreen’s community-based programs.
Requirements
- 5+ years of prior restaurant experience, with 3+ years in multi-unit management.
- Proven experience balancing new store openings and existing business performance, including project management and delegation.
- Strong communication skills that engage teams in a genuine, authentic way to drive behavior and results.
- Highly organized, adaptable, and capable of multitasking in a fast-paced environment.
- 2+ years of experience managing both front-of-house and back-of-house/kitchen operations.
- Disciplined approach to priority setting, with the ability to identify root causes of operational and people challenges and act quickly to improve performance.
- Demonstrated management of restaurant regulatory areas, including employee safety, HAACP, wage and hour compliance, immigration, and food safety.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite.
- Personal characteristics reflective of sweetgreen: high-energy, action-oriented, self-motivated, service-focused, flexible, ethical, and fun-loving with a humble attitude.

Pay
Starting salary range based on experience: $115,000—$125,000 USD.
