Job Summary
Manages the full fleet of primary and secondary equipment to achieve market base profitability through effective management of all fleet and maintenance activities within the assigned area, including cost control, management development, and high training and safety standards. Oversees fleets in Berlin, Fond du Lac, and Sheboygan, WI.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Ensures safe and reliable vehicles are available to meet operational requirements.
- Conducts fleet evaluations to ensure maintenance standards are met.
- Manages maintenance managers to ensure performance and cost focus across the area.
- Reviews capital equipment requisitions in line with corporate guidelines and objectives.
- Manages effective utilization of vehicle assets.
- Safeguards maintenance shops by ensuring adequate staffing and proper training of mechanics.
- Utilizes vehicle management systems effectively.
- Complies with and ensures adherence to WM’s Mission to Zero standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient operations.
- Maintains financial review dates and corporate directed programs in a timely fashion.
- Aids in the budget process as required.
- Affirms a positive team-oriented environment through employee development and motivation.
- Maintains cleanliness and maintenance of maintenance shops through regular inspections and preventive maintenance programs.
- Manages personnel needs of the department including selection, coaching, training, and evaluation of staff and maintenance managers, and evaluates employee performance.
- Provides input into termination, compensation, and promotion decisions.
- Motivates, coaches, counsels, and disciplines managers according to WM’s policies and procedures and ensures that maintenance managers are in compliance with the standards in their administration of counseling and disciplinary steps.
- Provides training and presentations as needed in a positive and professional manner.
Qualifications
- Required: Bachelor's Degree (accredited) or High School Diploma/GED (accredited) with 4 years of relevant experience, plus 5 years of previous experience (in addition to education requirements).
- Preferred: Valid Driver's License.
