About the role
The District Engineer is a key member of the District's executive leadership team and plays a vital role in shaping the future of Marina Coast Water District's infrastructure, water resources, and capital improvement programs. Reporting directly to the General Manager, the District Engineer plans, organizes, directs, and oversees all activities of the Engineering Department, including long-range and short-range project planning, design and construction management, permitting, and environmental planning. The department has 3 divisions: development review, capital programs, and information technology.
Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership for a wide range of complex engineering and operational initiatives that support reliable water, recycled water, power, data, and wastewater services for the community
- Oversee capital improvement planning
- Manage engineering consultants and contracts
- Develop departmental practices and procedures
- Collaborate closely with regulatory agencies, community partners, and District leadership
- Serve as a trusted advisor to the General Manager on technical, operational, and policy matters impacting the District's long-term success
