About the role
This is a skilled position involving the safe and efficient operation of an asphalt distributor truck. Drivers will deliver and spray all types of asphalt oils and emulsions.
Responsibilities
- Operate distributor trucks and related equipment safely and efficiently.
- Maintain time and material records.
- Follow verbal and written instructions.
- Understand different types of asphalt oils and emulsions.
- Demonstrate maneuvering and backing skills.
- Communicate effectively on the radio system.
- Perform minor mechanical adjustments to equipment.
- Perform related duties such as shovel work, setting string line, operating a power broom.
- Know loading protocol at oil distribution facilities.
- When not operating the distributor truck, may operate an end dump with or without a pup.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- One to two years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Valid state commercial driver's license (CDL) Class A with Tank and Hazmat endorsements.
- Clean driving record and current DOT Medical Card.
- Ability to communicate using two-way radio.
- Basic math skills.
- Basic computer skills preferred.
- Ability to speak Spanish is a plus.
Physical Demands
- Regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear.
- Occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision.
Work Environment
- Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, outside weather conditions, and extreme cold and/or heat.
- Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
- Willingness to do shift work and travel to various work locations.
