Distribution Warehouse Associate

Reports to: Distribution Department Warehouse Supervisor

About the role

Associate must be punctual and must meet or exceed Coastal Pet Products’ minimum production standards. Responsibilities include unloading shipments (with equipment or by hand), separating and palletizing items, and moving needed items to manufacturing and distribution by hand or with equipment.

Responsibilities

• Safety: Follow all safety policies and procedures as described in the employee handbook. Report any safety hazards or violations. Operate warehouse equipment in a safe, controlled manner.
• Quality: Operate within Coastal’s quality guidelines. Check all work and maintain a high standard of workmanship.
• Systems: Follow all systems consistently and correctly. Know how to properly operate any machines you are assigned to. Maintain workflow.
• Communications: Communicate all necessary information to Line Leader or Supervisor.
• Leadership: Set a good example for coworkers.
• Training: Accept cross-training to maximize skills and efficiencies. Be willing to rotate jobs as needed to maintain productivity and reduce fatigue.
• Productivity: Strive to meet or exceed Coastal’s minimum productivity standards.

Requirements

• Overall knowledge of equipment, systems, procedures, and processes in the area of responsibility to maintain maximum efficiency.
• Knowledge of Tow Motor operation and using technology for pick and put-away.
• Ability to read and interpret paperwork and perform basic math.
• Good verbal skills; ability to interact well with subordinates, peers, and superiors.
• Ability to walk and/or stand up to ten (10) hours a day.
• Ability to lift up to fifty (50) pounds regularly during a shift while unloading containers and moving case packs, skids, and oversized boxes.
• Regular attendance and willingness to work more than the regularly scheduled 40-hour work week when requested by management.
