Distribution Technician I

About the role

TRC is hiring a Distribution Field Technician role within the Madison and Green Bay, WI area for an entry-level position. This position requires 90% travel and will gather information in the field for use in detailed designs of overhead and/or underground electric distribution systems. This work includes the preparation of field notes, uploading field information gathered and updating field tracking. Possess an analytical competence to interact with variety of individuals including engineers and experienced distribution system designers. No professional experience required but preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design and prepare independently, construction orders related to overhead, underground facilities associated with electric distribution systems applying prescribed standards, guides, specifications and procedures.
• Apply the client's standards, guidelines, specifications, practices and procedures or appropriate industry standards in preparing layouts of overhead and/or underground electric distribution facilities.
• Prepare design sketches, cost estimates, bill of materials and any other required documents and reports for construction and maintenance projects.
• Aid in the performance of load studies on distribution transformers, investigate circuit overloads and voltage complaints to determine necessary corrective action.
• Contact landowners and/or their agents, to negotiate agreement of Rights of Way (easements) for proposed utility equipment. Obtain necessary contact and tax map information for easement processing.
• Prepare and submit required reports and correspondence.
• Aid in the acquisition of field data.
• Aid in the gathering of information from field notes.
• Utilize client and company information systems to track and update design activities.
• Follow Code of Safe Practices as outlined in the company safety policies.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or equivalent required.
• Ability to work outdoors.
• Ability to travel to various project sites within the utility client(s) territory during business hours.
• Knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office applications desired.
• Ability to work alone and with a team.
• No certifications required.

Compensation

In accordance with local law, the below salary range is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition. Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, geographical location, and other compensable factors. Other Compensation: Employee may be eligible for participation in the Company’s annual Discretionary Bonus Program which is contingent on Company, Business Segment, and Individual performance against Key Performance Indicators which vary by year and employee.
