About the role
The Distribution Supervisor leads and coordinates all activities of assigned hourly personnel within a production/distribution area. They plan and coordinate workflow and manpower to meet daily production/shipping schedules. Responsibilities include productivity, quality, scrap/rework, safety, housekeeping, and ensuring appropriate communication between shifts.Responsibilities
- Plans and assigns manpower in a fair and impartial manner.
- Captains general housekeeping efforts.
- Ensures appropriate communication between shifts.
- Routinely communicates information to hourly work force.
- Maintain employee attendance records, properly codes and signs payroll records.
- Provides positive reinforcement and motivates employees.
- Participates with supervisor in formal evaluations of hourly employees and administration of merit pay system.
- Participates with supervisor in conducting disciplinary action as required by the work rules.
- Aids in planning and execution of schedule requirements.
- Ensures employee safety utilizing preventative measures.
- Provides employee training and development.
- Ensures that the appropriate production/shipment levels are efficiently achieved.
- Supports all operating and management principles identified by the company.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Directly supervises 35 to 40 employees.
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
- Trains employees; plans, assigns, and directs work.
- Makes recommendations to supervisors regarding appraising performance.
- Rewards and disciplines employees.
- Addresses complaints and resolves problems.
Qualifications
- Education and Experience:
- Manufacturing: High school diploma or GED required. Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in business or related field preferred.

- Ability to read and understand blueprints.
- Must have working knowledge of all equipment and processes in the assigned area.
- Knowledge of quality specifications and requirements.
- Previous effective leadership experience required.
- Must have experience/ability to use Microsoft Excel, SAP and other computer software and systems as necessary to track department metrics and report on department productivity.
- Language Skills:
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of organization.
- Mathematical Skills:
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
- Reasoning Ability:
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

- Physical Demands:
- Frequent standing, walking, reaching with hands and arms.
- Frequent use of hands to finger, handle, or feel.
- Frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
- Frequent talking or hearing.
- Frequent lifting and/or moving up to 10 pounds and occasionally lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds.
- Close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and extreme heat.
- Required personal protective equipment includes safety glasses, steel toed safety shoes, and hearing protection.
- Protective sleeves and gloves must be worn when handling in-process parts or finished goods.
- Hard hats are required in all distribution rack areas.
- Frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts.
- Occasional exposure to fumes or airborne particles and extreme heat.
- Noise level in the manufacturing work environment is usually loud.
- Required personal protective equipment includes safety glasses, steel toed safety shoes, and hearing protection.
- Protective sleeves and gloves must be worn when handling in-process parts or finished goods.
- Hard hats are required in all distribution rack areas.
