Distribution Process Worker Leader.
Responsibilities
- Leads three or more workers to accomplish trades and labor work; provides instructions and ensures adequate workload distribution.
- Checks work in progress and completed work for compliance; answers workers' questions regarding procedures, policies, and instructions.
- Provides status and progress updates to supervisor.
- Performs non-lead duties including stock selection, stow, location survey, physical inventory, material handling, examining and identifying materials, packing, and operating Material Handling Equipment (MHE).
- Receives, unloads, and processes incoming shipments; verifies accompanying documentation against container or packing labels.
- Reports over, short, misdirected, or damaged materials following established procedures.
- Packs and repacks items using standard packing materials and techniques based on commodity type.
- Assembles items for shipment according to shipping requests; checks shipping container conditions and ensures proper loading.
- Counts and tallies items during inventories; assists in determining causes for discrepancies such as over, short, or misplaced items.
- Operates material handling equipment including forklifts (up to 15,000 pounds capacity), warehouse tractors, or general-purpose vehicles.
Requirements
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
- Non-Critical Sensitive position with Secret Access; appointment subject to favorable suitability or fitness determination.
- Non-Exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).
- Males born after December 31, 1959 must be registered or exempt from Selective Service.
- Bargaining unit position.
- Selectees must possess a REAL ID or other acceptable identification for federal facility access.
- Pre-employment physical required.
- Must obtain and maintain a valid Material Handling Equipment (MHE) license.
- Must obtain and maintain any licenses or certifications required by installation, federal, state, or local laws.
Qualifications
Applicants will be rated based on the Office of Personnel Management Qualification Standard for Trades and Labor Occupations. While no specific length of experience is required, you must meet screen-out elements and demonstrate through experience and training that you possess the necessary knowledge and skills to perform the duties at the required level. Emphasis is on the quality of experience rather than duration. Applicants who do not meet the screen-out element will be eliminated from further consideration.
Experience includes paid and unpaid work, such as volunteer experience through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, community, student, or social).
Physical Effort
- Frequently stands on hard surfaces for extended periods; requires constant standing, turning, twisting, reaching, grasping, and eye/hand coordination.
- Frequently walks, bends at the waist, drives MHE, climbs stairs, reaches overhead, and uses finger dexterity and foot/hand/eye coordination.
- Occasionally sits, kneels, crouches, crawls, climbs ladders, and throws items weighing up to 5 pounds.
- Frequently lifts items weighing up to 40 pounds from floor height (6 inches to 3 feet), waist level (2 feet to 30 inches), and occasionally from shoulder level (4 feet to 6 feet).
- Frequently carries items weighing up to 40 pounds for 6 to 10 feet.
- Occasionally pushes or pulls items weighing up to 80 pounds for approximately 3 feet.
- Uses weight handling equipment or receives assistance for items heavier than 40 pounds.
Working Conditions
- Works in outdoor and indoor environments that may be hot, damp, cold, drafty, or poorly lit.
- Subject to cuts, scrapes, bruises, muscle strain, noise, abrasions, falls, and injury from falling stock.
- Required to wear protective clothing such as steel-toed shoes, respirators, safety glasses, and earplugs.
- Mechanized roller conveyors are a normal part of material routing and distribution.
