Distribution Field Technician

About the role

The successful candidate will travel around to collect GIS data, field measurements, and photos of utility poles. These poles have been identified by our client’s customers for new communications attachments, in which our field engineers will document these locations and collect the necessary data for Leidos designers to design solutions and fixes.

Responsibilities

• Use a hasting stick or other measuring technologies to measure pole attachment heights & utility-owned distribution lines/attachments.
• Field data will be collected using Leidos proprietary software to update utilities GIS and make design determinations.
• Document and collect necessary data for Leidos designers to design solutions and fixes.
• Work in both team and independent environments and organize work to meet deadlines.
• Communicate status and progress effectively to supervisor.
• Significant walking is required; 90-95% of this position requires field related work.

Requirements

• High school diploma and 1 - 3 years of prior relevant experience.
• Prior experience within the power distribution field and/or an AS/BS in engineering (or related STEM Field).
• Experience in GIS with knowledge of Esri products or other GIS data collection software.
• Prior experience doing field work and distribution component identification.
• Knowledge of NESC Standards and Client Standards.
• Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
• Ability to work in both team and independent environments.
• Ability to work long days in outdoor environments.

Qualifications

• Valid Driver’s License and ability to utilize cell phone and 8MP camera.

Pay

$40,300.00 - $72,850.00

Schedule

Hours are flexible based on need dates of inspections.
