About the role
Verdantas is seeking a talented Distribution Field Technician to join our team in the Grand Rapids or Petosky, MI office. This hands-on role focuses on supporting field operations, ensuring quality and compliance across a variety of infrastructure projects.
Responsibilities
- Identify system and safety issues in electrical systems, including supporting our clients when faced with emergency outages caused by storms or technical issues
- Coordinate preconstruction meetings between clients and construction contractors
- Perform construction inspections and spot checks to ensure construction meets design and safety standards
- Perform post-construction inspections supporting as-builts and ensuring safe and reliable electricity distribution for residential, commercial, and utility clients
- Completion of field documentation in a timely manner, such as job safety analysis (JSA) forms, project field reports, field notes, monitoring, and chain-of-custody forms
- Maintain detailed records of work performed and maintain strong communication with the office staff
Requirements
- A High School Diploma or equivalent
- Completion of a lineman apprenticeship program and a Dept. of Labor Journeyman certificate
- 2-5 years of experience with electric overhead and underground distribution systems
- Strong technical knowledge of electrical systems and equipment, including but not limited to: transformers, insulators, switches, conductor, elbows, and tees
- Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams and electrical plans
- Capable of working primarily in an outdoor work environment and occasional office environment
- Must be able to carry up to 50 lbs. without accommodation and the ability to climb poles is a plus
Qualifications
- Commitment to safety protocols and regulatory compliance
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Must have and maintain a valid Driver’s License
