Distribution Engineer

About the role

Leidos is seeking Distribution Engineers & Designers in Rhode Island who are passionate about electric utility design engineering. The role involves direct client interaction to ensure high-quality work standards are maintained.

Responsibilities

• Perform design engineering for Leidos electric utility customers
• Develop work packages for overhead (OH), underground (UG), rural distribution (URD), and make-ready projects
• Manage scope, schedule, and budget of work assigned
• Conduct functional tasks, planning, and customer follow-up
• Analyze work scope and adhere to schedules to advocate client priorities
• Implement continuous improvement to workflow processes for efficiency and high-quality standards
• Coordinate conflicting utilities and other field engineering design requirements
• Develop large design packages for complex cable/conduit projects in dense urban environments
• Prepare work permits, easements, and right-of-way applications
• Collect field data for local or regional customer-site visits
• Communicate effectively with local electricians, utility engineers, and town engineers

Requirements

• 2+ years of prior relevant experience
• Bachelor's Degree (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or Industrial preferred); additional relevant experience/certifications may be considered in lieu of bachelor's degree
• Demonstrated proficiency with the National Electric Safety Code (NESC)
• Experience with structural analysis, guying calcs, cable pulling calcs, coordination of protective devices, and electric demand and fault currents calculations
• Ability to provide your own reliable transportation for local or regional customer-related travel
• Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills

Pay

$59,150.00 - $106,925.00

Schedule

This position offers remote-working capabilities, but candidates must be located within a commutable distance of Rhode Island to support local utility customers as needed.
