About the role
Leidos is seeking Distribution Engineers & Designers in Rhode Island who are passionate about electric utility design engineering. The role involves direct client interaction to ensure high-quality work standards are maintained.
Responsibilities
- Perform design engineering for Leidos electric utility customers
- Develop work packages for overhead (OH), underground (UG), rural distribution (URD), and make-ready projects
- Manage scope, schedule, and budget of work assigned
- Conduct functional tasks, planning, and customer follow-up
- Analyze work scope and adhere to schedules to advocate client priorities
- Implement continuous improvement to workflow processes for efficiency and high-quality standards
- Coordinate conflicting utilities and other field engineering design requirements
- Develop large design packages for complex cable/conduit projects in dense urban environments
- Prepare work permits, easements, and right-of-way applications
- Collect field data for local or regional customer-site visits
- Communicate effectively with local electricians, utility engineers, and town engineers
Requirements
- 2+ years of prior relevant experience
- Bachelor's Degree (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or Industrial preferred); additional relevant experience/certifications may be considered in lieu of bachelor's degree
- Demonstrated proficiency with the National Electric Safety Code (NESC)
- Experience with structural analysis, guying calcs, cable pulling calcs, coordination of protective devices, and electric demand and fault currents calculations
- Ability to provide your own reliable transportation for local or regional customer-related travel
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills

$59,150.00 - $106,925.00
Schedule
This position offers remote-working capabilities, but candidates must be located within a commutable distance of Rhode Island to support local utility customers as needed.
