Distribution Designer
Responsibilities
- Independently develop design and construction work packages for electrical overhead and underground distribution systems.
- Review client-provided work and assess requirements of scopes.
- Perform engineering calculations, including structural analysis for wood pole loading, guying calculations, and voltage drop analysis.
- Provide engineering support during construction and conduct post-construction reviews.
- Conduct root cause analysis of outages and apply engineering principles for mitigation.
- Cook conflicting utilities and field engineering design requirements.
- Develop large design packages for complex cable/conduit projects in dense urban environments.
- Work on permit development, easements, and right-of-way applications.
Requirements
- At least an associate degree in a design-related field.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD.
- Basic utility knowledge.
- 2-3 years of experience in a design role, preferably with Solidworks or similar design software.
Essential Skills
- Experience in electric distribution design engineering with an electric utility or consulting company is preferred.
- Open to entry-level candidates with relevant educational experience.
Work Environment
- Work in a group collaboration environment within a newly established office in Southfield.
- The role involves a 50% split between office and fieldwork, with local travel up to an hour and a half.
- Fieldwork includes visiting assigned poles/lines to record measurements and photographs.
- Travel time is included in work hours, and company vehicles are available for travel needs.

Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Southfield, MI.
Pay And Benefits
The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $28.00/hr.
