Distribution Designer
Responsibilities
- Apply client and company policies and procedures to develop moderately complex work order designs for overhead and underground electrical distribution facilities.
- Create and design work orders using client work management systems and design tools.
- Identify standard overhead and underground distribution facilities and utility equipment.
- Conduct field data collection including measuring, mapping, photography, equipment inventory, and staking.
- Utilize technology tools such as laser range finders, digital cameras, and cellular signal meter tools.
- Organize and document collected field data for use in project design.
- Cook up and coordinate with client construction personnel to resolve work site issues.
- Communicate effectively with clients and customers on schedules, commitments, and project expectations.
- Promote safety policies and procedures, including proper use of PPE.
- Lead, mentor, and provide technical support for teammates.
- Continuously improve job-related, technical, and professional knowledge and skills.
- Demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Plan, organize, estimate, schedule, and monitor work activities.
- Provide engineering and technical expertise in problem identification, analysis, and resolution.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
- Occasionally conduct field work (5% to 20%) in various terrains and environments.
Essential Skills
- Associate's degree in engineering or related field or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of engineering experience in the relevant discipline.
- Hands-on experience with computer applications specific to the discipline.
- Knowledge of industry standards for the supported discipline.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Previous experience with an architectural/engineering or consulting firm.
- More than 2 years of Distribution Design experience.
- Experience with BOUD tools.
- Experience with substation design, power distribution, and utility design.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, MicroStation, and drafting/CAD software.
Work Environment
This position offers a hybrid work environment, requiring attendance at the Phoenix, Tucson, or Albuquerque office 2 to 3 times a week, with the option to work remotely on other days. The role may involve occasional field work in varying weather conditions and terrains.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Phoenix, AZ.
Pay And Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $50.00/hr.
