Essential Functions

  • Aid in the planning and performance of all assigned circuits.
  • Support the identification of project benefits and desired outcomes.
  • Provide engineering support for specific projects.
  • Assist with resolving multiple outages in the Distribution System.
  • Create field work in the current work management system.
  • Support DDE/Lead until proficiency is achieved, assisting with:
    • EMF communications and/or measurements for customers.
    • Negotiating easements with the Real Estate Department and Customer.
    • Addressing customer quality of service issues with Account Executives.
    • Handling distribution issues with Operations, including reviewing switching, developing contingency plans, prioritizing work, and monitoring yellow tags.
    • Engineering support for Field Engineering Design.
    • P&CE on developing Recloser and Breaker settings.
  • Ensure safety considerations in all circuit analyses.
  • Directly interact with customers and implement corrective actions.
  • Set regulator and capacitor control settings for Electrical Maintenance.
  • Participate in outage, voltage, and power quality investigations, implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence. Provide reports as needed.
  • Collaborate with DDE/Lead in the development of distribution projects and prepare presentations for the Connecticut Project Authorization Committee (CTPAC).
  • Evaluate proposed Distributed Generation (DG) interconnection applications.
  • Review and implement annual procedures, such as TD941.
  • Utilize electronic software tools to model and analyze the distribution system (SynerGee, PTI, USAmp, PI, Visio, etc.)
  • Perform other related duties as assigned, including support to SOC.
  • Prepare for nonexclusive, non-supervisory, storm restoration and emergency assignments.

Education, Experience and Skills

  • Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering is required, with Electrical Engineering preferred.
  • Experience: Zero to three years of equivalent experience in Energy Delivery is preferred.
  • Technical Skills: Knowledge of distribution systems is desired. Must be able to work in a team environment. Knowledgeable of various computer applications including Microsoft Office. Circuit analysis software skills preferred. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Must hold a valid motor vehicle operator’s license.

Compensation and Benefits

  • The annual salary range for this position is $79,000-$84,000, plus incentive. Salary progresses in accordance with the union contract. For an overview of benefits, visit the career site.
