About the Role

Reporting to the Distribution Center Supervisor, the Distribution Center Wire Associate is responsible for receiving, storing, and distributing products to maintain overall efficiency and operation of the Distribution Center. This role may also involve higher-skill tasks, troubleshooting, and training other associates.

Responsibilities

  • Queue management in the company business system
  • Train owner associates on proper procedures
  • Operate wire cutting equipment using hand and foot controls
  • Use hydraulic machinery to assist in coiling and spooling wire cut orders
  • Utilize manual hand tools and power hand tools for wire cutting operations
  • Perform distribution center activities: receipt, inventory placement, order selection, and shipment of stock
  • Handle customer returns and defects
  • Pick, pack, and receive orders accurately and promptly
  • Restock inventory in designated storage areas
  • Load and unload trucks according to established procedures
  • Operate forklifts, hand trucks, or other equipment
  • Conduct inventory cycle counting and accurately identify/count inventory
  • Maintain quality and quantity performance and production standards
  • Participate in ongoing general housekeeping of the Distribution Center
  • Check assigned equipment for proper operation and report issues to supervision
  • Follow safe work habits and established safety procedures
  • Wear appropriate PPE as defined by the Owner-Associate Handbook
  • Participate in safety initiatives as assigned
  • Attend meetings and training sessions
  • Perform other Distribution Center tasks as assigned

Requirements

  • 1 year of previous warehouse experience
  • 1 year of forklift experience
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Ability to use standard office equipment (e.g., computerized bar code scanner, printer) and warehouse tools
  • Basic math and reasoning skills
  • Excellent work ethic, verbal, and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Ability to identify products without barcodes or scanning equipment
  • Ability to operate hydraulic machinery and power hand tools
  • Ability to communicate well with all levels of the organization

Physical Demands

  • Ability to see, sit, stand, walk, talk, and hear
  • Ability to lift, move, and carry up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to maneuver up to 75 lbs with assistance from equipment
  • Ability to be on your feet for 8 hours a day
  • Ability to climb stairs and step ladders, bend, stoop, crouch, and kneel
  • Regular use of hand and finger dexterity to manipulate controls, tools, and objects

Work Environment

The role is performed in a distribution center environment with temperature conditions prevalent at the time and noise levels typical of such a setting.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience picking orders with an RF scanner
  • Experience operating warehouse equipment, including forklifts, hand trucks, and cranes
