About the role

Responsible for supervising and coordinating activities for an assigned functional area in the Distribution Center. Monitors daily productivity and output using Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). Partners with management to define resource needs and works within budget and staffing parameters to meet business objectives. Ensures the accuracy and integrity of inventory and merchandise movement by monitoring SIMS/AS-400 system applications.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises a group of Team Members in a designated functional area in the Distribution Center.
  • Monitors team members’ productivity and work quality, and manages performance using tools such as progress summaries, retraining, job performance assessments, performance improvement plans, and disciplinary actions as needed.
  • Mentors team members through on-the-job training and may collaborate with the DC Trainer on conducting new team member orientation, including completion of training checklists.
  • Conducts 15-minute Observe, Coach, and Recognize (OCRs) sessions as necessary.
  • Recommends and assists in the development of training curricula.
  • Conducts Management by Walking Around (MBWA) to ensure team member safety, address concerns, communicate essential information, and enforce distribution center guidelines.
  • Establishes and cultivates morale and engagement of team members, encouraging participation in workplace activities and events.
  • Establishes and directs positive communication channels between cross-functional teams.
  • Enters daily performance forecasts into the DC productivity/efficiency report (e.g., DC Big Boy).
  • Utilizes and updates system computer applications for proper operation and reports.
  • Leverages performance management, KPI, DC Balancing and Flow, and other reports to manage daily DC functional area performance.
  • Ensures compliance with all Centers of Excellence SOPs for each applicable functional area.
  • Advocates and actively participates in a continuous improvement culture, particularly LEAN initiatives, to improve processes and drive out waste.
  • In collaboration with management, measures performance compliance and directs appropriate actions to maintain performance at or above required levels.
  • Maintains appropriate records for team members, equipment, and KPIs under their responsibility.
  • Participates in administrative activities, including defining resource needs and working within budget and staffing parameters to meet business objectives.
  • Assists in managing daily staffing needs for the designated department, including vacations, turnover, and volume monitoring.
  • Participates in addressing team member concerns, including reporting, follow-up, investigation, or disciplinary processes.
  • Promotes a safe environment and meets safety requirements, complying with company policies and government regulations on safety, environmental handling, and related matters.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and at least 1 year of experience in collaborating/leading team projects, OR
  • High School diploma/GED and at least 4 years’ experience in collaborating/leading team projects, OR
  • High School diploma/GED and United States Armed Forces or equivalent experience demonstrating leadership skills.
  • At least 1 year of experience assisting management with assigning work, monitoring attendance, or other managerial tasks.
  • Experience using the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Willingness to work any shift.
  • Experience identifying operational issues and recommending or implementing strategies to resolve problems.
  • Experience building and maintaining relationships within a team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and at least 1 year of experience working in a distribution center or production environment.
  • Experience in indirect management of team members, including coaching, mentoring, and assisting in development, training, and assignment of work/projects.
  • Intermediate to advanced experience using the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Experience working with SPC tracking, AS400, Sort View, or ISS.
  • Experience in distribution, warehousing, or logistics.
  • Experience analyzing operational reports.
  • Experience in a LEAN manufacturing or logistics environment.

Pay

Salary range: $79,300 – $127,000 per year (salaried). The actual hourly salary offered will depend on factors including geography, skills, education, experience, and other relevant considerations.
