About the role
Join Mattress Firm and help people sleep well so they live well. As a Distribution Center Lead, you’ll play a vital part in ensuring the final step of the Mattress Firm shopping experience goes smoothly—from picking and loading merchandise to on-time arrival and product setup. You’ll assist in the efficient day-to-day operations of the distribution center, supervise team members, and contribute to meeting organizational financial objectives while fostering a safe and collaborative work environment.
Schedule
- Training shift: Monday–Friday, 9:30 AM – 6:00 PM
- Regular shift: Tuesday–Saturday, 9:30 AM – 6:00 PM
Responsibilities
Essential Responsibilities
- Assist in the efficient day-to-day operations of the distribution center.
- Contribute to meeting overall financial objectives of the distribution center compared to budget.
- Create and foster an environment of trust, open two-way communication, and cohesive team effort.
- Ensure alignment with strategic vision and communicate organizational mission and values to the team.
- Communicate with team members through regular and frequent meetings.
- Hold one-on-one meetings with direct reports at least twice a month.
- Ensure adherence to operational processes, policies, and procedures.
- Ensure the distribution center meets company standards on appearance, cleanliness, and functionality.
- Identify opportunities and drive continuous improvement initiatives in the distribution center.
- Facilitate resolution of customer service issues.
- Verify driver payroll for accuracy.
- Conduct required physical cycle counts, review discrepancies, and make appropriate corrections.
- Ensure use of proper safety equipment and maintain a safe working environment by adhering to all safety policies and procedures.
- Complete all required training modules and certifications prior to the due date.
- Communicate professionally with all internal and external contacts.
- Follow all Company policies and execute Company standards on appearance, functionality, and brand representation.
- Communicate concerns or issues to leadership to ensure proper efficiency of department and company operations.
- Execute team member performance improvement plans, progressive discipline, and terminations when appropriate per Company policy.
Non-Essential Responsibilities
- Participate in monthly DC-wide meetings to communicate organization and DC wins and opportunities.
- Assist Loss Prevention with loss prevention and safety audits.
- May be responsible for safety and other training and periodic retraining for all team members and contract employees in the DC.
- May monitor employee time records and review and approve paid time off and leave of absence requests in accordance with policy.
- May participate in interviewing and hiring process for potential DC team members.
- May manage the DC in the absence of the DC leader.
- May be involved in coaching conversations and administering disciplinary actions.
- May lead or participate in daily stand-up meetings at the beginning of each shift or team meetings.
- May take an active role in onboarding and training new DC team members.
- Execute company initiatives and other activities requested by supervisor.
- Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities.
- Enhance department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for new and different requests; explore opportunities to add value.
- Contribute ideas on ways to optimize or improve the team, department, and Company.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
- 2+ years of related experience preferred.
- Warehouse, logistics, or supply chain knowledge.
- Computer literacy in Microsoft products: Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint.
- Understanding of general warehouse standard operating procedures, basic retail operations, inventory control, and safety policies.
- Familiarity with financial analysis, reporting, and budgeting.

Pay
Competitive pay range of $18.50 – $20.00 per hour. Actual pay is based on documented and verified relevant work experience. Additional bonus opportunities may be available at the Company’s discretion for eligible roles.
