About the Role
This position serves as the backup Delivery Driver for the Distribution Center, delivering to local customers when the primary driver is unavailable. The role also includes receiving, storing, and inventorying products, as well as maintaining all aspects of the Distribution Center as part of a team led by the Distribution Center Manager (DCM).
Responsibilities
Delivery Driver Duties
- Load the company-provided delivery truck in preparation for daily deliveries.
- Verify carton counts and product quantities per customer orders.
- Drive and operate the delivery truck within the local area, adhering to all traffic laws and regulations.
- Unload customer orders (cartons and/or pallets) at the customer’s loading dock.
- Interface with the customer’s receiving department to confirm order fulfillment and secure proof of delivery.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and hygienic work environment in and around the delivery vehicle.
- Inspect the delivery vehicle daily, report service issues, and ensure proper fueling.
Warehouse Duties
- Receive, store, and inventory domestic and imported products within 24 hours of receipt; report discrepancies to the DCM.
- Process customer returns within 48 hours and oversee restocking or disposition.
- Ensure all stock is stored properly (by FIFO) and protected; re-barcode as necessary.
- Pick, pack, and ship assigned orders, following proper packing/labeling instructions and utilizing appropriate supplies.
- Utilize Warehouse Management (WMS) and shipping systems for FedEx, UPS, delivery contractors, and common carriers.
- Prepare packing supplies daily for the next day’s activities.
- Deliver "walk-in" orders to customers.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and hygienic warehouse environment, including dock areas and building perimeter.
- Follow cleaning standards and report facility infrastructure issues promptly.
- Assist with customer service requests, including order entry, stock availability, and item locations.
- Operate warehouse material handling equipment (e.g., manual and motorized pallet jacks).
- Follow food safety, quality, sanitation, and Good Distribution Practice (GDP) requirements.
- Support proper product handling, storage, rotation, and allergen-control practices.
- Complete required food safety, temperature, and sanitation documentation.
- Perform all other duties as assigned by the DCM or Assistant.
Requirements
- Valid driving license and clean driving record; small delivery truck experience is desired but not mandatory.
- 1-2 years of warehousing/shipping experience, including inventory control and organization skills.
- Strong coordination, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in data entry and comfort using computers.
- Safe work ethic and ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Fast learner with a professional attitude and appearance.
- Employment is contingent upon a favorable background investigation.
Pay
The base salary for this role is $20.00 per hour, with eligibility for a performance-based bonus structure tied to key performance indicators and overall business performance.
