9fin is the AI platform powering global debt markets — the world’s largest asset class at over $145 trillion. Debt markets are vast, global, and mission-critical, yet still run on fragmented data, PDFs, and manual workflows. 9fin replaces this broken infrastructure with a single platform that centralizes proprietary credit data, deep analysis, and high-value workflows across global markets. Today, 9fin powers teams at 300+ blue-chip institutions worldwide, including global banks, asset managers, private equity firms, law firms, and advisors. The business is scaling at exceptional speed, with rapid expansion in the US and best-in-class retention driven by deep workflow adoption.

About the role

Every day there is important news, your job will be to report it first. This consists of:

  • Scoops — Daily news on distressed debt, from company earnings deterioration through to restructuring situations, working from leads and angles agreed with your editor and senior reporters
  • Deep industry knowledge and relationships — You'll learn the mechanics of distressed debt and restructuring, and start building your own network of sources
  • Collaborations with analysts and lawyers — You'll bring ideas to the team, and take direction on which are worth pursuing and how to approach them
  • Leveraging AI — You'll learn to use 9fin's technology to track the situations we cover and flag developments to the team

Requirements

This role will be a great fit if you are:

  • Market experience — You need to have some exposure and interest in the world of finance, debt markets and why distressed situations matter
  • A great writer — You can say more with less and know how to weave in facts without weighing down copy (student journalism, internships, freelance, or a related field)
  • A networking machine — You have to enjoy meeting people and be comfortable picking up the phone and starting conversations with people you don't know
  • Organized — Reliable on deadlines, accurate with detail, and able to keep track of what you've been asked to do
  • Coachable — Actively seeks feedback and direction, and applies it. You'll be closely supported by senior reporters and editors and want to make the most of that
  • Driven — Self-motivated and passionate about doing a good job
