Dist Designer Helper - Distribution Designer, Sr. (NP)

About the role

The role involves assisting in the design and coordination of distribution facilities, including pole jobs, internal jobs, and revenue calls. It also includes communication and negotiation of right of way easements and permits.

Responsibilities

• Meet regularly with external/internal customers to discuss and determine specific requirements to provide service in each situation and negotiate facilities layout, point of service, and proposed service date.
• Conduct field investigations: evaluate possible service alternatives, determine the appropriate standards and/or specifications; prepare accurate construction drawings and material/labor estimates; interpret customer survey plats; assist in engineering calculations, tables, layouts, studies, and reports.
• Design construction, including external/internal customers, reliability, and section type projects. Assist in large projects such as subdivisions and highway projects.
• Interpret and document the appropriate tariffs, policies, and procedures related to the Contribution in Aid of Construction (CIAC) process.
• Communicate and coordinate assigned projects with all Entergy departments and appropriate personnel.
• Create, approve, and release project designs when authorized.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to less experienced Distribution Design Helpers.

Requirements

• One year field operations experience (Transmission Line or Substation, Distribution Line or Service, Field Metering, or Gas Distribution) OR
• A minimum of 60 college hours toward a 4-year degree in a related field from an accredited school OR
• A 2-year Technical Associate Degree in a related field from an accredited school and 2 years related work experience OR
• A 4-year Technical Degree in a related field from an accredited school and 2 years related work experience OR
• Three years field operations experience (Transmission Line or Substation, Distribution Line or Service, Field Metering or Gas Distribution) OR
• A 2-year Technical Associate Degree or 60 credit hours toward a 4-year degree in a related field from an accredited school and 2 years related work experience OR
• A 4-year Technical Degree in a related field from an accredited school and 1 year related work experience

• Must have full use of mental and physical faculties.
• Strength and endurance adequate for arduous labor as circumstances may require.

Skills

• Proficient in designing overhead primary and secondary facilities.
• Ability to communicate and negotiate right of way easements and permits.
• Knowledge of Entergy Standards and appropriate tariffs, policies, and procedures.
• Ability to coordinate and communicate with various Entergy departments.
• Ability to provide guidance and mentorship to less experienced staff.
