Display Manager
About the role
The Display Manager at Alford Media is responsible for leading the design and technical direction of display technologies for large-scale corporate live events and branded experiences. This role involves managing a team of display professionals, establishing technical standards, and maintaining key vendor partnerships.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary technical authority and subject matter expert for all display related technologies, including LED and projection systems used in corporate live events.
- Provide leadership and clear technical direction for the Display team, setting expectations for design quality, safety, and technical excellence across diverse event formats and venues.
- Maintain final technical authority for display system decisions, guiding complex design efforts and approving systems, drawings, proposals, and scopes of work prior to customer release.
- Act as the primary technical liaison between Sales, Operations, Engineering, and other teams to ensure display solutions are feasible, efficient, and aligned with client objectives, creative intent, and venue constraints.
- Oversee front-end planning and system design for large-scale corporate meetings, general sessions, executive presentations, and hybrid event environments.
- Establish and maintain display design standards, SOPs, and best practices, including projection design methodologies, LED deployment strategies, and mounting solutions suitable for ballroom, convention, and arena scale environments.
- Ensure all display designs comply with applicable safety, rigging, and engineering requirements for temporary live event builds.
- Shape LED and projection equipment strategy, including inventory planning, utilization, and recommendations for capital investment aligned with evolving event formats and client expectations.
- Maintain relationships with cross-rental vendors, projection partners, and specialty providers to support large, complex, and concurrent event schedules.
- Lead technical training and knowledge development related to display system design, projection fundamentals, and real-world application across corporate live events.
- Provide visibility into display design workload, priorities, and resourcing needs in partnership with Sales and Operations leadership, particularly during peak event cycles.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial performance related to display operations.
- Provide leadership, mentorship, and professional guidance to display designers and technical staff.
- Support team performance and long-term capability through coaching, feedback, and effective integration of full-time and freelance talent.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree preferred, High School Diploma or Equivalent with relevant work experience required.
- Five to ten (5–10) years of experience in projection and LED technology, video, or corporate live event production, including experience leading technical teams; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong background in LED systems, corporate live event production, and customer-facing technical environments.
- In-depth knowledge of projector technologies and lens selection methodologies for large-format general sessions and broadcast or hybrid event applications.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and relevant design or control software.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts for internal teams and client stakeholders.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documentation, safety standards, and procedural manuals.
- Strong problem-solving skills and sound technical judgment in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred, High School Diploma or Equivalent with relevant work experience required.

Schedule
This position is eligible to work a hybrid schedule, generally requiring work in-office and/or show-site 2-3 days per week based out of Dallas, TX.
